Connie and I are lifelong natives of the New Orleans area. We met at a Bible study in Metairie a few years after I graduated from LSU and we were married in March of ’88.
In the Spring of 1991, we moved to St. Tammany with one daughter. Before long, our family grew from three members to six. Now our oldest daughter is married, the next one graduated from LSU in 2015, and our boys attend LSU and Northlake Christian.
I have spent most of my career pointing teenagers towards a relationship with Christ. For most of my ministry, I was on staff with Campus Life (originally in Metairie and later on the north shore). I was also the Student Ministries Pastor at Trinity Church in Covington for a six year window and a chaplain for St Joseph’s Hospice for over two years. Currently, I’m enjoying the adventure of pastoring Grace Chapel.
I would have to say that our favorite pastime as a married couple is hanging out with people. For us, it’s not about the activity as much as getting to know one another and laughing together. Connie and I especially love the opportunity to help people know Christ more intimately.
I think that’s why I enjoyed working with students so much for so long. Looking back, a wide assortment of kids felt comfortable attending meetings and events. Some were very set in their Christian beliefs. Others were very skeptical. All of them were welcome.
Our hope is that Grace Chapel will have that same kind of atmosphere… a place where people feel free to participate or just observe… a place of freedom… a place where folks can ask honest questions, experience God and learn to share that relationship with others.
